Guests appreciate the historic charm of the Granville Inn and its charming town location, but recent reviews highlight significant inconsistencies and a decline in food quality and service, particularly regarding breakfast operations.
The town is beautiful. The space is also beautiful. The food. The food and service, not good. We waited 15 minutes to be seated and the restaurant was empty. The waitress was talking to another table for 25 minutes while our appetizer, which was supposed to be the warm raisin bread. Came cold, and dry. We mentioned that it was dry and the waitress fired back "well, I like it." 35 minutes later the food came out. My mahi sandwich was beyond over dressed, swimming in aoili. My table mate who is a chef, ordered Eggs Benedict. The hollandaise was oily and inedible. We sent that back, just ordered Eggs, bacon and toast, the toast and bacon we're both burnt. Extremely disappointing.
Food was EXCELLENT. Love the atmosphere. Service a zero...15 min to be greeted after seating. Fish sandwich was almost an hour. They need leadership
My wife and I stayed at the Granville Inn for our anniversary, and this was our second stay. We first visited about three years ago and had a wonderful experience, which is why we chose to return and purchased the Romance Package this time. Unfortunately, this visit marked the first time we were truly disappointed—specifically with the breakfast. Three years ago, the breakfast was a hot, well-rounded meal that included eggs, bacon, toast, coffee, and a good balance of protein and carbohydrates. It felt thoughtful and appropriate for the price point and the experience the Inn represents. This time, however, the breakfast was a basic continental offering consisting of sugary, carb-heavy items and stale pastries, with little to no protein. This was especially disappointing given the cost of the stay and the expectations set by our previous visit. We travel frequently, and even hotels at a much lower price point routinely offer far better breakfast options than what was provided here. We were told that the owners have chosen not to staff a hot breakfast, despite multiple guests expressing similar concerns. That is troubling, as it suggests customer feedback is not being taken seriously. Ignoring consistent guest concerns is a recipe for disappointment and dissatisfied customers—particularly at a property that positions itself as a premium experience. To be clear, this was the only negative aspect of our stay. Everything else met our expectations. However, for a stay that is not inexpensive and is meant to feel special—especially for an anniversary—a cold, sugar-heavy continental breakfast fell far short. We truly hope the owners reconsider this decision and listen to their loyal customer base. Restoring a quality breakfast would go a long way toward preserving the experience that made us want to return in the first place.
Front desk staff were wonderful and welcoming! Very nice room, beautiful building, comfortable bed. Plenty of hot water and water pressure. Didn’t eat at the restaurant, but the bar was very nice. Beautiful, walkable, shoppable neighborhood. Only two slight downsides: the toilet is crammed into a tiny uncomfortable space between the sink and shower, and the breakfast was high-quality well made but there was only breakfast breads and oatmeal to eat.
My husband and I recently had our wedding at the Granville Inn and we had a fantastic experience throughout the whole process. They were transparent with cost, solution driven, and answered any questions we had during planning. The wedding day itself had no hiccups. The staff was professional, the food was delicious, and setup/cleanup was easy. The Inn itself is gorgeous so if you want to be lazier with decorations your day will still be magical. If you get to work with Brian, the Inn manager, you will be in for a great treat. We highly recommend the Granville Inn as a wedding venue, a great place to eat or a lovely weekend retreat.
We absolutely loved our stay at the Granville Inn. The quaint town of Granville paired with the charm of this historic hotel made for such a cozy getaway. The decor is warm and inviting, the beds were super comfortable, and I especially loved that each floor had its own coffee station. The included continental breakfast was a really nice touch. We also ate at the restaurant and it was fabulous. I had the salmon and enjoyed every single bite, and the espresso martini with hints of cinnamon was perfection. We were actually there on business. The venue is incredibly well suited for a smaller wedding. Our group was just under 80 guests and it felt ideal. Outdoor ceremony on the courtyard, cocktail hour in the Carriage House, then reception in the ballroom with a small area for the bar and a dessert buffet. It flowed so well for guests. The staff was wonderful. Everyone we interacted with was hospitable, kind, and helpful from start to finish. Overall, the Granville Inn is a fantastic choice for both a relaxing stay and an intimate wedding venue. We cannot wait to return and highly recommend this hotel/venue!
My husband and I had brunch with friends here over the weekend. The server was good - not really polished like you would expect , but gracious and friendly. The food was good - not excellent like it used to be. The chicken salad is very good, but a little pricey for what it is. There were only two other tables occupied while we were there. Not the GI’s fault, but someone walked away with my umbrella (tacky). I called and asked if maybe someone had taken it by mistake and returned it. They had not, but the employee who looked for it for me simply said he didn’t see it. No apology or offer for a solution. Not a big deal, but in the day, the Granville Inn was much classier. Sad to see it go downhill.
Very cool old building, updated and well maintained. Check in was easy, and the gentleman that checked me in was friendly and professional. My room was on the smaller side, but well laid out and comfortable - very clean, comfortable bedding, high end finishes, and nice updated bathroom. When I return to this area for work, I will definitely stay here again.
We went to the Granville Inn for my mother's 65th birthday. I called ahead and booked one of the outdoor heated rooms for dinner. Unfortunately the heaters were not working so we had to move to the dining room. Noelle and Tim handled the situation beautifully and made sure my mother had a fantastic experience even though she wasn't able to be in the room she requested. They both went out of thier way to check on us multiple times and brought us a couple complimentary goodies to enjoy as a family to celebrate. Mom left happy, and most of that was due to Noelle and Tim's hospitality. Thank you!
First visit, for Valentine's dinner. I was very excited. The table service was very good. We enjoyed the charcuterie board and cocktails. Both of us had the scallops for our main course. They were okay, maybe a little tough. The accompanying risotto was bland and not at all creamy. Between the 2 of us, we only found 1 piece of pale yellow corn (not blistered). No tomatoes at all, and chive oil was bland. For dessert, we split a chocolate lava cake, and each had a cappuccino. There was absolutely no foam on the cappuccinos, and one was just above room temperature. The lava cake tasted good, but the "lava" was a cold piece of hard chocolate in the middle. This meal was almost $200. We will not return.
