The Best Western Port Columbus receives generally positive feedback, particularly highlighting its convenient location near the airport and helpful staff. However, recent reviews reveal significant concerns regarding cleanliness, staffing issues, and operational problems like shuttle service inconsistencies and billing errors. Despite moments of exceptional service, the property seems to be struggling with consistent quality control.
I recently traveled to Columbus for a last-minute, 9-day work trip. Due to severe travel weather and some initial check-in complications, I arrived feeling a bit stressed. However, the staff worked diligently alongside my team to resolve the issues and get us checked in smoothly. ?Being away from home for over a week is never easy, but Zabi, who works the night shift, truly went above and beyond. He always ensures guests have everything they need before engaging in genuine, welcoming conversation. I am incredibly glad I chose to stay here. Despite the hectic nature of the trip, the staff’s care and commitment to their guests made all the difference.
We were very impressed with our check in experience, they allowed us to check in a bit earlier because we had a festival to go to. The room and breakfast were great. Very clean. Friendly staff. And perfect location with restaurants around, Gas, Coffee all a short walk.
Great service, breakfast was good. Front desk staff were good and helpful. Weekends were usually busy and pricey prior booking helps though. Everything else is great.
I will give this place ONE Star for the convenience of location. We were in town for a concert on 4/25. Booked a Jacuzzi room for one night. Paid almost $300! And the room and hotel was disgusting! Room was so dingy and uncleaned. The sink area was clearly not cleaned before our arrival. Room smelled like smoke. Bathroom door was damaged at the bottom so would not shut properly. Toilet would barely flush. The ceiling was leaking really bad in the hallway right inside the entrance of side door. No buckets, no signs warning of wet floor. (I thought maybe they just weren’t aware so I walked to the front desk and told the gentleman, he was in fact aware but apparently didn’t feel the need to do anything about it.) We have stayed at Best Western’s at other locations and always have had very nice stays. But this location was very cringy! Do not stay here!
They do not have a typical airport shuttle, which caused a multitude of problems. The shuttle that's listed on their website is just Ubers, which wasn't shared with us/listed online anywhere until we were waiting in the airport shuttle area for a while and called to ask if one was coming. When we checked in, we scheduled our departure Uber for the next morning and were told that it would be ready for us. The next morning when it didn't come, we were told that they didn't have shuttles on Sundays. This was not told to us on Saturday (12-18 hours prior). I had to track down the man at the front desk, who was in the back breakfast room on his phone, who told us to order a ride through our own account and we would be reimbursed for the cost, so we did. We were told that it would be credited to us in a couple of days but to call back if it wasn't. It's now been nearly a month and the credit still hasn't shown up. I've called the hotel and have not received a call back with any solutions. Corporate is no help and just says to call the hotel itself. While $30 is not the end of the world, it's terribly inconvenient to think you have a ride for 6am when you don't, and then have to pay for one, and then not receive the reimbursement you've been promised. Other than that, the rooms were clean, although half of the outlets in our room didn't work. The area felt safe and was a 25-minute bus ride to downtown with a bus station right outside the hotel, which was nice. The breakfast was fine - nothing special but on par with other hotel breakfasts. The staff was friendly but obviously not the most knowledgeable or helpful. I absolutely would not recommend this hotel unless you have your own car.
I must say that my experience here has been great. I came here with a large group for a conference. They wher very patient and kind to accommodate all of us and others that were coming in. The breakfast was an average breakfast but they kept it well stocked as we kept coming in
I read a few bad reviews but decided to try it out. We checked in Wednesday (Christmas Eve) and checked out Saturday. The room was clean and the staff was friendly. In some of the bad reviews I read they talked about roaches or signs of bed bugs but that was not the case. We didn't see any bugs at all or any signs of bed bugs. Trust me I always check really good when it's a hotel I've never been to. We stayed in a pet friendly room because we have a small dog and it was perfect for us. I read a review about one of the pet friendly rooms smelling like cat urine but again this wasn't the case with our room. It smelled fine. They do have a indoor pool but we didn't go swimming. I did walk in and check the temperature of pool. It wasn't cold but wasn't warm either. If I had a swimsuit with me I would have probably went in and I'm sure it would've been ok. The hotel was really quiet except for Friday night. There was a woman cussing and fussing at someone in the hallway around 10 pm for about 5 minutes. Other than that it was quiet. Now the whole time we stayed I bet there wasn't more then 15 cars in the parking lot so it wasn't packed. The breakfast was actually pretty good compared to some of the other Best Westerns I've stayed at. The coffee was good. The apple juice and orange juice wasn't watered down like I've experienced at other Best Westerns. The eggs, bacon, sausage, and potatoes were actually cooked and not microwaved. The waffles are excellent. Overall we had a good stay and we do plan on staying here again whenever we are in Columbus.
Zabi at the front has helped me a lot in my stay. Very kind person and very helpful and I’m not exaggerating this, i really mean it. I hope that everyone who comes to this hotel meets him and to enjoy his service at the front desk. I would recommend if you town or coming to visit Columbus to come to best western port Columbus one of the best hotels and good customers service.
This is the best hotel. The staff gets a five start rate from the time you check in through checkout . It's super clean ..spotless, good location near the airport This is my second stay for airport day arrival or departure to stay Close to restaurants or gas station . They have shuttle service for flights from 7a.m. on. Beds are so comfortable.
In the last month alone, three visits have already brought be back to Columbus and finding a hotel always is such a tricky gamble. When many reviews seem to be comprised of unhappy experiences, it makes the decision only harder if one’s on a budget or an extended stay where money adds up quickly especially during college football price surges. Anyhow, took my chance the first time about a month ago and was not disappointed one bit. Room was clean, spacious and comfortable. Being a single night stay, it was a quick turnaround however on the second trip, stayed about 5 days and again, room was clean and comfortable. I believe on the 3rd day the room was cleaned and trash removed. The elevator works fine and the staff is attentive and quite helpful. From the night manager to the employees during daytime, they’re genuinely trying their best. If you’re looking for a decent room to sleep and rest, for this location in Columbus, Best Western is an option worth checking out!
