The Holiday Inn Express Columbus - Ohio Expo Center consistently receives negative reviews regarding cleanliness, room conditions, and property upkeep. Guests repeatedly report issues such as stained furniture, plumbing problems, and a rundown appearance despite reasonable pricing. Staff responsiveness is mixed, with some praising friendliness while others cite incompetence or unhelpful behavior. The location is considered somewhat undesirable due to surrounding area.
I dont even know where to start. I only put 1 start because I had no choice. First of all. Our room was a king bed with a couch, the cover was COVERED in a dark red stains. And then the bed had stains from what looks like bodily fluids. Absolutely disgusting. The front desk lady was such a sweetheart and she was so kind! They changed our room and still stains on the couch dark red in color. Luckily the bed had no stains but I felt so gross after staying. I have been trying to get a hold of IHG to get a full refund. Sorry but I shouldn’t have to spent close to $400 for a room like that. And not even to mention, the additional $40 fee for parking and eco fees? Umm no. Never staying here again and possibly never at another IHG facility.
Don’t come here. There’s 0 sense of urgency to make the guest happy. I came inside and booked my hotel room on May 30 around 1 PM king size bed for one night and then return at three to do an early check-in. I was told that my room wasn’t ready check your time is at four. I’m sitting here at the lobby it’s after four and I still haven’t checked in. My issue is that I’ve been in the lobby since three. If you know you have a guest that’s waiting to check in at four then The hotel cleaning staff should’ve probably been moved to clean a king size bed room so that I will be able to check in.
Stayed there over the weekend of the Arnold Classic. It was affordable and very close to the Expo Center. I booked a 2 bedroom room. Upon entering one of the beds were pulled out and the box spring was smashed to the ground. I immediately told the front desk and they told me there wasn't anything the can do that maintenance will not be there until 11pm. Holiday Inn couldn't put me in another hotel because every placed was booked. Since I booked through a third party the only place who could give me a refund was the hotel manager which he refused. Not on the best area either. The low battery alarm went off in the lobby smoke alarm all weekend and the paper towel dispenser was empty so the just set what looked to be a stack of Wendy's napkins on the bathroom sink. Very unprofessional manager but it is what it is.
When you see expo you probably think this will be a nice hotel. Unfortunately they have put a bandaid on a run down building and made it appear nice. Im staying here a week for work because I prepaid thinking it would be nice. Unfortunately I was surprised to find that this hotel is far from it. Cracks in the ceiling, ice makers that dont work, sketchy neighbor"hood" front desk staff was friendy but sketchy all the same. I shouldnt have to double check my truck bed to make sure nothing was stolen in the mornings when leaving for work. Coffee machine was down and only ice machine working was on the second floor. The tub stopper didnt work. Update: During the stay two of our company trucks got broken into and $5k of tooling was stolen.
It was a good location for visiting OSU but beyond that…there’s a lot left to desire. Our toilet seat was literally falling off and we asked the front desk was almost belligerent when it came to helping. He let me know they didn’t have a maintenance person any more and he couldn’t help. I asked if I could borrow a flat head screwdriver but he refused that too. No apology for the inconvenience…only got “we’ll fix it after you leave”. It was a simple fix that takes a few minutes…but the gentleman at the front desk at 11:30pm offered no solutions.
The gentleman and lady that checked me in were incredibly friendly. That being said, it is in a rough part of town. There was a drug bust at the Wendy's next door while I was staying there. Additionally, I was charged for a miscellaneous damage in a room that was in rough condition to begin with. Don't stay here, go somewhere nicer, somewhere where they don't charge you extra while you worry about having your car broken into.
Worst experience I have had in any hotel for years! Stayed for two nights with my daughter. On arrival I was notified that the elevator was broken, and WiFi was broken for the first night, too. I was also notified that even "light housekeeping service" will be provided only upon request. The second day I call front desk to replace two shower towels and was told that they don't have any! When I continued asking when they will have any available, she put me on-hold and never pick up the phone again. The chair also has stains on it. Big regret for staying in this hotel. Any motel can do better!
We stayed here for the Hozier concert at Crew Stadium. I was so nervous because I read all the horrible reviews. I was stressing because it was myself, my mother and mother in law. We got there at 3pm. Just in time to heat Hozier sound check from the parking lot. We got into our room right away. It was clean. I was worried what we’d find but we were all pleasantly surprised. Lobby did smell like weed but I feel like that’s common these days. 15 min walk to the concert. Bad area but I never felt unsafe. There was security around on the main road because of the concert. Walking back was fine. It was pouring rain but we walked with a large group of other hotel people. We had breakfast when we left. It was decent. Good for being included with the room. I think it was sausage and cinnamon rolls. The hotel was sold out because of the concert so they had to keep the food coming. Staff was friendly. Overall, it was a great stay!
Horrible customer service By the manager. The hotel made a mistake by canceling my room when it should not have been canceled so whenever I showed up to check in I had to book a room at the current rate. They would not honor my original rate for the original room that I booked even though it was their mistake. I talked to IHG several times I was told I would get a call back within 48 hours from the manager and then the owner of the hotel. Those calls never happened. I then called weeks later the manager at the hotel and he was not able to explain why my reservation got canceled. And didn’t even know how to cancel a reservation, apparently. But refused to honor the rate that I was supposed to have had. For reference the difference was $47 so not a ton of money, but they are unwilling to help any customer. The manager then hung up when I continued asking questions about how my reservation could have gotten canceled in the first place. Do not use this hotel. ( they also like to throw in $9 a day parking even though they are not near the city without telling you)
The room was dirty & smelled like smoke upon check in. We were only there for 2 nights so I didn’t want to complain. There was no room service during my stay. I was in the room working and requested a later check out, they offered me from 11 to 12. I had an important meeting scheduled last minute from 120-1230. I requested an extension for 30 minutes and was told no. I called IHG, the manager called me and said they had a lot going on and could not accommodate. I checked out at 12 like asked, and sat in the parking lot to take my meeting. Not one person checked in during the 30 minutes, no reason I wouldn’t have been able to stay for an extra 30 minutes (especially when check in is at 4:00). I guess being a high member with IHG doesn’t matter to this hotel management. Will never be back. Additionally, as I was leaving a cleaner was cleaning rooms on my floor with her baby strapped to her back and the car seat sitting in the hallway. I saw the car seat sitting the day before but didn’t realize a baby was actually in the room. So unprofessional.
