Homewood Suites by Hilton Columbus/Airport consistently receives negative feedback, plagued by issues ranging from severe cleanliness problems and broken amenities to alarming security concerns, including vehicle break-ins and property-wide renovations. While some guests praise the breakfast and staff friendliness, the overwhelming majority report significant disappointments and a deeply unsatisfactory experience.
This hotel was miserable. The beds were impact crater shaped. The kitchen sink flooded all over the floor. The bathroom light was broken and took two days of trying to repair. Front desk staff refused to let us change rooms because it would have required effort. I will return to Columbus again for work, and I will carefully locate this hotel and absolutely buy *anything* else. The cherry on top of my delightful stay was the basketball court behind the hotel. Kids were screeching until midnight. I'm glad they were having a good time, it's too bad I have to get up early for work. Anyway, I have located the worst Hilton brand hotel in Columbus. Save yourself, just book something else.
Room-layout was nice, a Suite with a separate kitchen/living room and bedroom. Cleaniness-HORRIBLE. Sofa had stains all over it (see pics) Tub/shower has mold! Bedroom ceiling had water stains so there was some type of leakage. kitchen had no pans, can't cook without the pans. Dishwasher had some kind of stain on the outside. Walls had stains or holes. Seriously, the Hilton Family should be totally embarrassed to have a property like this with their name on it!!!!! Hotel Manager probably needs to be replaced with someone who stays on top of Staff for room upkeep. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone! pics of proof that everything I'm saying is true are attached to this review.
This was sadly not up to what I’ve come to expect from stateside Hilton names hotels. This was aged, water spots , spiders in the room, fire alarm batteries going off in multiple rooms, pretty beat up kitchens and bathrooms. To top things off, the pool was being renovated while we were there and caused a huge chemical smell throughout the hotel that was terrible. Staff was nice and breakfast was provided. This hotel desperately needs a renovation. Embassy’s suites shares a parking lot and I would recommend staying there instead- their included happy hour and breakfast at embassy looked lovely.
The front desk attendant was amazing. Probably the reason I would stay again. Swimming pool was dated and need a good cleaning but he was nice enough to let us swim after hours. Good stay!
If you need a place to stay this isn’t the place to go. From check-in to check-out the experience was horrible. The check-in clerk made a number of inappropriate remarks regarding the property’s safety and the rooms. This was an unplanned trip due to a family emergency. After arriving to the room which was overpowered with air freshener we were asked to change rooms because the sink was stopped up and the handles were broken. The clerk met us on the second floor, advised us that the new room had a strong aroma (complaints from the last visitors) and told us it should not bother us because it did not bother him. The room had been doused in air freshener which later disappeared and the smell of smoke followed. The ceiling was cracked, dirty used towels hanging in the room (we called to asked them to be removed no one showed up after advising they would come twice), trash in the room, ripped couch cushions, and stained walls. Instead of uprooting our family to another room and dealing with the attitude of the clerk we stayed and waited for management the following morning to be advised someone would call. Still no call or updates. Breakfast at check-out was fine minus several items being unavailable. In addition to the missing items the convenient show while one of the guest came downstairs with little to no clothes on to breakfast with children present. Quite interesting experience to say the least to compliment the hallway full of trash.
My stay here was extremely disappointing due to how management treated me. The behavior I experienced was unprofessional, dismissive, and came across as racially biased. Instead of addressing concerns respectfully, management made the situation worse through their tone, lack of accountability, and unwillingness to help. No guest should ever feel uncomfortable, unheard, or disrespected—especially by management, who are supposed to set the standard for customer service. Unfortunately, that was not the case here. I would not recommend this hotel, particularly to people of color, until management receives proper training in professionalism, respect, and non-discriminatory practices.
Our room clearly smelled of weed. (We were on an non smoking floor). The floors are not clean in both our hotel rooms and the dining area downstairs. Our initial room had a broken mirror/ closet door and toilet started to overflow upon first flush. The area around the tub was peeling and the faucet was loose. Front desk was marginally helpful. Put us in a new room right across from our old room. New room still not clean, dirt and dust all over the floor, stains on counters and cabinets. Silver lining I don't think will be murdered. Super disappointed after being on the road for 10 hours. Will not be staying again.
Do NOT STAY HERE. If you want your vehicle to be safe and you want comfort. This place is not for you. In fact, don’t stay anywhere near the airport. All of these hotels know there is vandalism and so do the police. No one will do anything about it. If you ask them about security, a fence, social responsibility, liability, they will have every excuse why it won’t work. Besides informing the customer, that’s just them hiding the truth from you. They expect the guests to know the local news coverage from 7 months ago, covering the break-ins.
Room was nice but paint and sheetrock on the ceiling was cracked and stained. Also the pillows smelled of bad BO. Seems like they wash the linens, but not the pillows. Front desk personnel were very nice and helpful.
I travel monthly for work and this is my go to. The best hot free breakfast ever. Staff are always friendly and polite. Clean spacious rooms. Location feels safe and is easy to get to...near to plenty of gas stations restaurants and major roads.
