Room was a decent size. I was super impressed. Bathroom is small. Floors in bathroom and by your entrance door are very slippery when wet. Decent size pantry/closet. Balcony would of been more enjoyable if the neighbor wasn't blaring their music loud the whole stay. But once balcony doors were shut you could barely hear their music. Pool needs a good cleaning but it smelled heavily of chlorine and burned the heck outta your eyes. Slimey stuff was alongside walls & filter areas. The pool was packed Saturday. Very noisy. Glad I was able to enjoy it the day before when it was only us & quiet. The restaurant food isn't what you think it would be. The steaks I had to cut into tiny bites cause it was so chewy. Cheeseburger just didn't taste like a cheeseburger. Idk maybe our taste buds are off but the steak n burger just didn't taste right. Cheaper to ride to Mt Sterling and order a Larry's Pizza lol and you know itll taste better! Each time we hv stayed here we have had a different experience. I'd rather stay in a DC cabin or stay at the DC campground.

For starters we asked for lake view and was told they couldn't promise, did get view of lake but they had main lake view wing totally shut down, still have construction going on which has been over a year that I know of. In room they had info on bar which said they serve pizza, subs and appetizers, go down to order sub and was told all they have is pizza and haven't had subs in over a year. Bed time and little tv prior to going to sleep so look at channel lineup on little paper they had in room and it was totally wrong so thought we were gonna watch one network and wasn't even on the TV. Kids running thru hallway screaming and banging on walls. Breakfast next morning was looking forward to omlet and hashbrowns based on looking at menu the evening b4 and get down to restaurant for breakfast and told no menu our only choice was buffet for $17 each and it wasn't even up to standards that regular hotels supply for free. Gravy wasn't warm,French toast was cold and hard, manager took like $8 off bill but I feel like we got robbed even after that. Was checking out little b4 11 and both the free coffee pots were empty. Nice area and room was good other than every once in a while a motor sound started in room ( I think the ac?) This would last about 15 mins and happened about 5 times in 2 nights that I heard. I do not know if its lack of help or lack of management or just a fluke while we were there but I do not feel as though we got what we paid for. I mean we made the best out of it but alot of this would be simple fixes just by keeping up on changes that are made.

This state park lodge is what you would expect for one of the lodges. They all seem to have the same motif and layout. This particular lodge is in the middle of being renovated. The areas that have been updated are breathtaking. The front lobby/sitting area is exquisite. There are tons of outdoor seating options to take in the views of the lake. The restaurant has beautiful views of the lake. Service was great and the food was good. The pool is ok. You can't take food/drink into the pool area and the hot tub was down. The locker rooms at the pool are dirty. Our room was updated, but already the paint was peeling off the ceiling in the bathroom. The housekeeping services are lacking. When we arrived our mini fridge had items from previous guests still in it as well as open bottles and cans on our patio. I overheard a other guest saying they found items from a previous guest in their room as well. Of the lodges we have been to, this is on the smaller side, but still a great lodge to visit. Our kids had a good time and we were not bored. Guest services were outstanding. We will return again.

We spent 3 nights at Deer Creek lodge. There was some construction going on at the time but the place was still very clean. The room we were in had a lake view which was great. The views from anywhere in the lodge were amazing. The beds were comfortable. The entire staff was super friendly and helpful. I have to mention Chef Vincent and the kitchen staff. The food was 5 star and delicious. All of this will definitely make us return and enjoy this lodge again.

I have grown up around Deer Creek Lodge. Three yesrs ago I booked a suprise getaway for my husband at the cabins. At that time my Dad a marine corp vet was battling cancer and we were taking care of him and needed some respite. This was before their “renovations” upon arrival the room smelled of cigarettes and dog. We made a run to Mt Sterling to grab pizza from iconic Larry’s and arrived back at the cabin. There was mold in the bathroom around the shower there was toothpaste and some other substance on the shower curtain. There was some trash left over on the patio. The stove was filthy. There as animal hair. I contacted the front desk they advised me they could bring me cleaning supplies to clean the cabin to my liking. I found that to be very unprofessional and it is not my job as a patron to clean a room that should have been properly cleaned. Ultimately after a discussion with my husband we reached out to the front desk again who advised they could let us have a room in the lodge. This is not what we wanted so we chose to leave and get our money back. It took several weeks to get my money back. The pictures were sent to management and I never heard a word from them. I decided I would never try to stay there again. Most places would have offered a discounted stay or a nights stay for this type of service. I got nothing. This past weekend we were invited to come with my family for the weekend get away. After our initial visit we decided to do only one night. The room was okay. It was not clean. It was on the lower level where they are renovating so when we came and went all we saw were big yellow signs paint buckets and renovation supplies. I understand the need for renovations but $300 for one night stay I expected more. Dinner was amazing and our server was ran ragged and did an amazing job!! Breakfast was a total let down. Our 8 am breakfast got there around 8:2o and was cold. There were no drinks that were supposed to come with the breakfast and it was cold. There were chips under the table in our room. Filth behind the couch and the couch was dirty. The door has chunks missing there was black marks on the clieling. The coffee pot was on a table with no outlet for use and the night stand was broken. We have not had a night away in about 3 years Again our expectations were not met and we were disappointed

Reserved the Valentine pkg which included dinner and a room. Reservations for dinner 6pm. After checking in, we waited a half hour. Went back up and we were seated. And ignored for another half hour. Finally grabbed the waitress who told us it would be 45 minutes before we received food after we ordered. We chose to leave and order a pizza. Good idea! Major FAILURE.

I grew up coming here ever since I was born. I've seen it remodeled half a dozen times. Every time it gets a little better. The one thing that I wish is that they would go back to the original day pass prices instead of the crazy price that they charge now. It used to be 5 bucks to go swim. Now it's way too much. With that being said they're hot tub is broke down half the time or not working 80% of the time that I go there. I wish they would update the hot tub instead of updating everything else. They can make a really cool grotto hot tub. Or just of hot tub that functions properly with good Jets that you can actually control they've had the same control switch for 30 plus years. That's just really disappointing that they update everything else besides the hot tub. They've never updated the pools either besides painting a deer Creek logo on them.... But I still love the lodge a lot of my best memories are there as I've been going for the last 32 years of my life LOL. Other than the couple things I gripe about everything else is perfect they have beautiful views great lake to walk down to. And other fun activities. The weight room is a disaster. It used to be a sauna but they took out the sauna for a weight room that barely anybody uses because everything's been the same for 20 years and it's broken.... Still a great place to visit though.

I have stayed at the lodge many times over the years and we have also stayed in the cabins and we have had great experiences during our stays. However, yesterday my daughter and went in and purchased a couple day passes for the pool and we were upset to find out afterwards that the hot tub is not working at all. After a long week of work I was looking forward to soaking in the hot tub and if I would have known beforehand that it wasn't in service then I would have went somewhere else. Upon leaving I stopped at the front desk to express that I wasn't aware that the hot tub was out of service and that had been the main reason that I had came today the front desk attendant was stern and unbothered by my statement as she continued to work on her computer and stated it would be down for awhile too as they were waiting on a replacement.

We spent New Year’s Eve with friends at the lodge. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable. Hardings Bar, on site was so much fun and they were running great drink and beer bucket specials. The pizza was the best we ever had. The entire lodge was beautifully decorated and all the staff was amazing. We will definitely be back in the summer. Great place for kids.

The property and building are beautiful and they offer pretty good activities however the room was lackluster. There were multiple stains on the pull out couch, no ventilation in the bathroom, one of the bedside lamp was out, an exposed panel (looks like for a thermostat), the phone didn’t work, and there were no extra blankets, sheets, or pillows, and tons of smaller cosmetic things. Would stay again if these things were fixed!! Staff was friendly and very helpful!
