As I’m writing this it’s 7:36pm and I have been on the road since 3:30am, this was a beautiful hotel to come to after my long journey, very clean rooms and amazing staff. Walking distance to many places, currently I’m at the flapper bar and grill enjoying a wonderful meal while listening to live music. 10/10 recommend this hotel in a very quaint little town.

I had been trying to contact the mount vernon grand hotel since September regarding a wedding block. I left emails and voicemails and didn't hear back. Once I tried calling the front desk and asked to be transferred to the sales department and the person told me to "wait one minute" then hung up on me and wouldn't answer the phone again. Once I finally did hear back, in January, I was told the weekend I was inquiring about was already full, which was extremely disappointing since my original inquiry was sent more than a year in advance of our wedding date.

The best hotel I’ve stayed at. It rivals or surpasses four star hotels of similar size. An obsessive focus on guest services, indulgent rooms, perfect location, and delicious hot breakfast. All at an unbelievably affordable rate. It’s the only place I stay when in Mt. Vernon. I only wish there were similar hotels in other cities I visit. Highly recommend.

Found this beautiful hotel by chance riding thru town on a motorcycle trip with 4 other people. What a gem this place is. Not only is it lovely to look at, but from the moment we walked in, without reservations at that, we were welcomed with smiles. The front desk was so friendly and the rooms were so nice. Located conveniently right downtown, restaurants & shops were in walking distance. Nice, hot breakfast was provided as well. Works definitely stay here again and absolutely would recommend.

Rooms were clean and well accommodated with a refrigerator, keurig, and good linens. Staff were very friendly. Breakfast was good with lots of options. The menu was different the two days we were there. The 24 hr coffee, lemonade and tea service was nice. The town is very cute and will definitely return!

This was a fantastic location. The hotel was beautifully maintained, cleaned and service was great. The breakfasts were excellent, I really appreciated that. I only have two small concerns: The shower water temperature was difficult to moderate, it was either super hot or ice cold. Also, all of the toiletries are stored on a vanity across from the bathroom, not especially convenient. A small table next to the shower with the soaps, conditioners, shampoos would make sense!

Came to the Grand for a work event. The service was excellent. The room was nice and quiet. The bed slept great. For work, I needed to use the Boardroom and it was very nice. I was worried about noise because it was right off the main entrance, but that wasn't an issue. Victoria (the sales director, I believe) took great care of our group. This hotel has all of the old school charm with all of the new school amenities. I'm not sure when I'll be back in Mount Vernon again, but if I am, this is the only place I'll stay.

Our first time, I requested the best view. We had a corner room on the fourth floor. It was wonderful! The hotel is beautiful! The room was beautiful and very clean! The bed and pillows very comfortable. The breakfast was very good. Great coffee! And the staff freindly and personable!

My wife and I were taking a leisurely drive across Ohio and looking for a small town and quiet location to spend a little time. Upon a search, the Grand Hotel in Mt. Vernon popped up. This hotel was completely rebuilt from what was the original Curtis Inn that was built in the late 1800s and burned down in the 1940s. We love staying in older, historic hotels but the surprise with the Grand Hotel is it's really neither. The hotel looks and feels old, but it has modern plumbing, elevators, insulation, and windows. The temperature dropped to the single digits on our stay, but the room was toasty warm. The 24-hour coffee and tea service is a nice touch, as is the afternoon/ evening hot chocolate bar. The breakfast is great as they rotate several hot items daily, and always have the yogurt, cereal, breads, etc. Autumn was working when we stayed, and she was delightful to talk with. She gave us great information on the hotel and surrounding areas, as well as a couple of suggestions for dinner. Bill was working maintenance in the evening and took time out of his schedule to talk with us about the hotel history, restaurants, and other related topics. I traveled for many years on business, and it's rare to find a property that you feel comfortable and at home in. We felt appreciated as guests, and it's the personal touch that will bring us back for future stays.

Yes, I booked on Expedia. Yes, I get they control the reservation. We are to arrive today. I called the hotel to see if we could get an accessible room as it wasn't available when I booked. I was told yes. They even said they would upgrade us. Not necessary or requested, but thank you. We've stayed at this location several times before. It is a decent property with a good location. Rooms are nice but a but "old school" in terms of amenities and the breakfast is ok. 30 minutes later I received a call telling me I need to call Expedia to change it but they have opened up an accessible room so we can change it. My exact words "By the time I get in touch with them, someone else will take that room." Their reply was given the time of year that is not likely. We should be fine. 10 minutes later when Expedia finally responds, guess what, the room is gone. I wonder who predicted that would happen? Their attitude about it was just "we are sorry." No "is there anything I can do to make this right with you?" Customer service training is clearly missing "recovery." Perhaps the most offensive part of this dialog is that the rep from the hotel "justified" the quick booking of the accessible room by saying that there must be a lot of older/elderly people looking for rooms. This implies one of the following, or both: 1. All older/elderly people need accessible rooms. 2. All people with accessibility needs are older/elderly. Neither is true, especially for us. This is what really ended the conversation for me. Wow! I'm here for my father's funeral so this customer service roller coaster isn't appreciated at all. I'll be pursuing other hotel choices on my next visit. Sad.
