The Homewood Suites by Hilton Columbus/Polaris receives mixed reviews, with some guests praising the family-friendly amenities, convenient location, and helpful staff. However, recurring concerns center around cleanliness issues, particularly with bedding and room details, as well as functionality problems with room features and inconsistent housekeeping services. Recent renovations are planned, but current issues persist.
I recently stayed here with family while traveling for a track meet. There were some positives, but unfortunately the cleanliness issues were significant enough that I would not stay here again. The best part of the experience was the staff. The front desk employees were friendly, responsive, and helpful whenever I had concerns. The kids also enjoyed the pool and basketball area, which helped keep them entertained during our stay. Unfortunately, the room itself was not up to acceptable standards. The sleeper sofa contained what appeared to be bugs or insect debris, and there was visible dirt and debris underneath it. The couch cushions had stains that made them appear unclean. The bedding was also a major concern. The sheets on the bed appeared dirty, and when I requested replacement sheets from the front desk, the replacement sheets also appeared dirty. This left me questioning the hotel's laundry and housekeeping standards. As a guest, it was disappointing and I expected better from a Hilton brand. I appreciate the kindness of the staff and the family-friendly amenities, the breakfast too, but management needs to take a much closer look at housekeeping, furniture condition, and bedding quality. I do not recommend staying here.
This was surprisingly a great place for a family of 4 to stay while in town visiting family. The room was good enough for two adults, a 3 year old and a 1 year old. The rooms were quiet and couldnt' hear any of the other rooms, they had a pool, nice breakfast and basketball court. Also, the front desk guy Derrick let me borrow his charger for a few hours, so thanks Derrick! I will say, one thing is make sure you have a wall charger, they didnt' have any usb ports.
This hotel had friendly front office staff. The breakfast options were great. The workout equipment appeared in good condition and all working. I like the fact that they had cardio equipment that can link to an Apple Watch and had two workout benches. I had more than enough cups, plates, bowls, and utensils in the room for my long stay. The only reason I did not give them 5 stars was the cleanliness. I mean the room was not horribly dirty. I had clean sheets and towels but it’s the details I noticed. For example there was food residue in some of the cups and the dishwasher filter was filthy. The workout area needs some dusting. However just minor issues I stay in a lot of Hilton hotels so I don’t give 5 stars unless everything is superb.
We stayed at this hotel for four nights. The hotel is located in a perfect location. The front desk staff were very courteous and efficient. The room layout is perfect and the room was well cleaned. Unfortunately in our room the A/C units were a problem, first the one in the front rooms thermostat was hanging off the wall. After adjusting the temperature we realized it never ever shuts off. The A/C unit in the bedroom, even on auto never shut off. They both ran day and night. Our first morning we asked for toilet paper, towels and a blanket. This request was ignored and we needed to ask the front desk for those items that evening. Four nights and we never had service knock on the door and ask is we needed anything or service the room. As a honors member for years I would have expected better.
My son and I were in town for his teams’ basketball tournament. Our team had plenty of options to choose from, but this hotel was so conveniently located to the Fieldhouse and within walking distance of a variety of restaurants! The rooms, lobby, and eating areas were very clean. Also, the staff was friendly and accommodating! Especially the evening manager, Darrick! He was kind and attentive! Darrick greeted us with a smile, and was responsive to our needs! He made the place warm and inviting! This location is a must when we return to Columbus/Polaris!
This entire 2 week stay was the worst experience of my life. Please do not come here if you are looking for updated rooms, luxury feel, clean beds and sheets, etc. The staff was ignorant, racist, nasty, rude. The food was garbage. The beds and sheets had blood, stains, soiled, towels were yellow instead of white. The first night my family and I slept in a cold room. They did not accommodate us. No heat and the room was nasty. Nasty sheets, refrigerator full of food, just outright nasty. The manager is and was aggressive, rude, racist, arrogant, unpleasant, disrespectful, and full of himself. The housekeeping staff was lazy, nasty and rude. They did not clean anything. Everyone needs to be fired including manager. They do not know how to treat guests. They are disgusting. They are rude, ignorant and nasty. They never wanted to clean your room. I had to ask for clean sheets, towels etc everyday. I even vaccuum and swept the floor myself..My husband had booked the room for two weeks, but somehow mysteriously, the manager states that we need to get out the day before. He comes to the room aggressively and tells my husband and I to get out. He practically puts his hands on my husband. We had to call the police on him. He is an ignorant, rude and aggressive individual. My husband works here in Ohio and is usually here for 2 weeks. This is completely unacceptable. I have never seen so much racism in my life. If you are not prayed up, saved and living for Jesus, it would be a disaster dealing with is racism. We are literally being put out of this hotel for no reason. It is raining, and it is getting dark. My husband, son and I have to get on the road and drive 6 hours home. This is a terrible experience. This experience has brought me to tears. This experience has been terrible, horrible and unexpected. I am filing a lawsuit and filing a report for discrimination. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL. IT IS NASTU AND RACIST
The rooms are more than livable for a week at a time. Housekeeping does a wonderful job of turning down your room within a stay of several days. The afternoon manager is very helpful, friendly and accommodating. I will definitely be staying here again when I am in the Columbus area.
My family and I recently stayed at Homewood Suites by Hilton Columbus/Polaris, where we had three separate rooms booked. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. During breakfast hours, my husband and son returned to one of our rooms and witnessed a housekeeper entering the room at that time. She immediately exited when she realized they were still inside. After returning from breakfast myself, I discovered that $385 in cash was missing from my purse. I know the exact amount because I counted the cash right before going downstairs to breakfast when I removed some for a tip. When discussing it with other family members, we learned that staff had also been seen entering two of our other rooms during breakfast hours. This directly contradicts what we were later told. At the time of the incident, the hotel manager was not available, so we contacted customer service while we were still on the property. Customer service initially treated the matter seriously and indicated it would be handled. However, after returning home (over four hours away), we were directed back to the hotel manager. When speaking with him, he stated that “no one enters rooms until after check-out” and dismissed the concern entirely, despite multiple witnesses. We were also told we would need to return in person to complete a police report, which is not feasible given the distance. The most concerning part of this situation is not only the missing money, but the lack of accountability and the feeling of being disregarded. Guest safety and trust should be taken seriously, and our experience left us feeling unsupported and unheard. I hope this matter is properly reviewed so that other families do not experience something similar.
Always a great experience at Homewood suites. Staff very friendly and help if you have any issues. Great breakfast, and Wednesdays are very nice. They make a dinner and get to talk to other people staying there and enjoy a dinner with everyone!!! Pretty cool.
Honestly, we stay at A LOT of hotels and this is one of the nicest ones we've come across. If you're traveling with a preteen, having separate spaces is crucial and this gave us (and him) enough privacy. Very clean, very convenient and a fantastic price. May be our go-to when we need a suite from now on.
