Guests consistently praise the newly renovated, modern rooms and the quality of the complimentary breakfast. However, there are significant concerns regarding safety, as several recent reports indicate a recurring pattern of car window break-ins with insufficient security response.
Clean rooms and hotel. Pretty big for a hampton. My sheets smelled nice and were softer than usual hotels. Pillows were clean as well.
My room is gorgeous and very modern with a black & gray theme....classy, if you will. The room is also very clean and smells good, unlike some other rooms at hotels that smell stale. The reception area and staff are also very welcoming & friendly. I don't eat breakfast, so I can't attest for the quality but given everything else, it's unlikely that I'd be disappointed. The only con that I would give is the location, and that's because not a lot of food choices are within a close walking distance. You do have a few but it's very limited. Overall, this is a very nice hotel and I'd definitely stay here again. (Note: HHonors Gold Status member)
This is a pretty nice hotel conveniently located near Ohio state and the James. It’s a pretty typical Hampton although there were a few issues particularly with noise. The doors do slam although not so loud that I was woken up as some others have complained of. The heat was also very loud and I had to turn it down a bit to get it down to a reasonable level. Also my clock was not working when I got there. The breakfast was pretty good but I was disappointed that the only waffle toppings were butter and a raspberry sauce. The rooms look very modern and don’t show much wear. The shower was particularly great and had very hot water. Overall a good experience.
BED BUGS! OUR GROUP HAD A ROOM ON LOWER FLOOR AND A ROOM ON UPPER FLOOR. BOTH ROOMS HAVE BEDBUGS! They knew it and still rented those rooms out to our group. We got bit bad and went to talk to the manager. She sent someone out to tell me she was busy even though she knew I got bedbug bites from staying in her hotel! You do not want the "extras" from this place! Do NOT book Hampton Inn & Suites Columbus/University Area!!!
Have stayed here multiple times over the years, because of doctors appointments at the Ross hospital. We have always had nice rooms & friendly people. I'm sure we will be back. Good job guys & gals!
I’ve stayed here twice now, but I think I’ll be changing it up next time. The rooms are dated and show their age (fraying carpet tiles). The beds themselves have certainly seen better days. They’re creaky and springy. When I arrived for an early check in (at 12:00pm, the usual time of check out), the front desk attendant was no where to be seen. Three of us waited in the lobby for almost 20 minutes before we were helped. A member of the crew saw me and said he’d let them know we were there. (No one came). Another gentleman walked from the back to the side doorway, grabbed a drink from the staff fridge, and then walked back. We then waited another 5-10 minutes before the front desk staff came down from near the elevators. For the cost per night, I’m not convinced this location is the best option.
This location is a pretty standard Hampton Inn; it has friendly staff, clean rooms, convenient location, and ample parking. Overall, I was very pleased with the hotel during my visit and wouldn't hesitate to return in the future if I find myself in the area.
This is a warning for anyone going through chemotherapy at OSU and planning to stay at the Hampton Inn. I called ahead to make sure they had a deep freezer to freeze my ice packs for chemotherapy. The girl on the phone told me yes, they could put my bags in their deep freeze. When I showed up on November 4th, a male night clerk — long blond hair, rude attitude — flat-out told me there was no such thing as a deep freezer in the hotel. Total liar. He took my bags anyway and shoved them somewhere useless, because when I picked them up in the morning, they were completely melted. I had chemo that day, and thanks to his laziness and lies, I had no ice. I was extremely upset and spoke with the manager the next day. She told me they actually do have a deep freezer. When I explained how important this was and that I had another future reservation, she showed no concern whatsoever and said she couldn’t assure me it wouldn’t happen again. This place has zero integrity, zero empathy, and zero accountability. I cancelled my upcoming stay immediately and will never stay here again. The lack of honesty, communication, and empathy is appalling — especially when dealing with guests going through medical treatment. Chemo patients: choose another hotel that actually cares.
Was able to walk to the Lorde concert... great stay but the breakfast offered was mid. I love Continental breakfast and the scones looked like they had sat out for 4 days straight. Only the oatmeal was safe. ?
Loved my stay here for my Birthday weekend! Everyone at the front desk was genuinely nice & caring. (I didn’t get everyones names , but Victor & Julia helped/talked to us & were super kind) • The pool & gym area were clean , as well as everywhere else. But I do wish there was a hot tub ? • The breakfast was pretty decent , the food was always stocked up , even 30 minutes before breakfast was over (including the hot food - both days there were eggs , potatoes & a breakfast meat) ? • They had hot coffee , stuff to make tea , & hot chocolate stocked 24/7 • & Considering them being a pet friendly hotel , it was so clean I wasn’t able to tell that there were pets at all. We were happy we could bring our dog to stay with us • There was also a lot of good food options near by for lunch/dinner • I would definitely recommend staying here & would come again!
