Guests consistently praise the attentive, friendly front-desk staff and the well-maintained breakfast area, noting significant issues with room cleanliness, noise, and safety. Recent reports highlight outdated facilities, maintenance failures, and persistent security concerns in the parking lot.
I can’t leave ZERO STARS — Laura at the front desk is HORRIBLY RUDE!! She tried to charge me and then cancel my reservation because we were not checked in at 3pm on the dot. She then GAVE OUR ROOMS AWAY!!! She told me she had no valid contact info for me, even though you cannot make reservations with Hotels.com without providing your contact details! Her attitude was terrible, she spoke to my husband like he was dirt. He asked for the manager because she told him “hotel rooms are first come first serve”, he said well we have reservations, she said that no longer mattered because it was 10:15pm and check in was 3pm. So he asked for the manager again and she said she was the manager and he could deal with her. We decided to leave, she demanded that I tell her that I was cancelling my reservations (after telling us she was 100% booked) and she spouted “good luck finding rooms because everyone is booked up” - we went directly across the parking lot to Holiday Inn and got 2 rooms and checked right in.
The staff were friendly while checking in and out. The hotel itself was ok, the usual amenities for a budget hotel. The lobby and dining area seemed updated, but the rooms were just ok. Our bathroom gave me the ick. We could hear everything going on outside our room (facing the entrance of the building) as well as noise from other rooms, the hallway, etc. Location wise, you’re close enough to downtown Columbus, and walking distance to many chain eateries.
For a budget hotel, it was very nice. Room was pretty clean and spatious. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Others have mentioned the shower door issues and the main door not being sealed off. Not very soundproofed and the bathroom fan seemed not to work. Our door had an issue with unlocking, but we figured out that if we turned the handle counterclockwise and THEN swiped and opened normally, it worked fine. Staff was extremely helpful, professional, and polite. Friendly. This location wins over DoubleTree by Hilton hands down. The road is extremely busy though. Seems like its the main corridor for locals and wanderers alike. Its difficult going any direction but right out of the parking lot at most hours of the day.
Aliyah couldn’t not be a better rep for Marriott properties. She was so helpful and even offered us an upgrade after a long day on the road! Rooms were comfortable and the location was within walking distance to many restaurants.
Staff was great and quick to help when we noticed that the internal door stop was broken. Overall, room was dated and a bit worn, but clean. Breakfast was nice, and included a few small extras beyond the standard buffets. Pool area was clean and well maintained.
Booked a room for 4 guests, but there were only enough washcloths and towels for two people, so we had to go get more. Then the bathroom was AWFUL. Shower needed maintenance because it was severely backed up and wouldn't drain. On top of that, the fan was broken so the entire room was blistering hot with steam so bad that you couldn't see where you were stepping. Two of us couldn't even shower because the tub was so full of water and it wouldn't go down, but apparently there were no available rooms to move us to. Asked to speak to management and no one ever responded. Breakfast was limited and cold but was sufficient thanks to the microwave. As a Gold Elite member who was previously a Titanium Elite member, I expected a lot more from Marriott considering the business I have given them over the years. This location did not hold up, and has me reconsidering my business relationship with Marriott.
We stayed here for Picktown Palooza weekend and had no problems at all. The room was clean and comfortable, the front desk staff was friendly and helpful, and the free breakfast had a huge variety of options, including healthy choices such as eggs, oatmeal, and turkey sausage. Also appreciated that they had dairy-free options for coffee/cereal. There are a ton of options for shopping/dining right by the hotel as well, so if you forget something or want to grab a quick bite to eat, there's anything you could ever want right down the street. I would definitely choose this hotel again when we come back out that way!
It takes a lot for me to write a review, But this one seems like it needed one. I wanna start with the staff with a 10 out of 10! Everyone was so kind and was doing what they could to make it the best stay! That being said, the elevator was broken the whole time we were here, even with somebody trying to fix it. Apparently it has been having problems since they started the renovation and updated the software on the elevator. The breakfast was good and the dining room was very clean! The pool area was also clean and towels were provided! Moving onto the rooms, the beds were comfortable and the room was clean. However, there was only 3 pillows and 3 towels per room, even though each room sleeps 4 people… There is zero ventilation in the bathroom, so expect there to be mold in the next few months. After showering, the room was so steamy that an alarm started going off in the room because the fire alarm got wet. Maintenance had to come and fix that and did so quickly! The alarm in the bedroom was not reset so that woke me up at 5 o’clock in the morning and continue to go off because I couldn’t figure out how to turn it off half asleep. The doors have no seals on them so you can hear every single thing in the hallway and in adjoining rooms. Also, if you’re a person that sleeps in the dark, there is light shining in from all over the room because you can see all the light in the hallway. Hopefully these things will be able to be addressed by the hotel.
After checking in, a short walk to the elevator revealed a commercial dryer in the hallway along with missing baseboards and peeling wall paper. It was evident that there had been a recent water problem. With fans running in the halls of every floor, the workout facility and the conference room I knew this would be irritative for anyone with allergies. Had I not been staying only one night I would have relocated for my stay. To make matters much worse I woke to police officers walking the parking lot due to a number of vehicle break in that occurred overnight!!! The police admitted to this not being the first time in the area. Bottom line I would choose another location if you plan to travel to this area!
I stayed at Fairfield on 3/8/25. Check in was easy and fast and no issuse. Room was okay, but second floor smelled horrible like they just smoke cigarettes in the hall way. They have a water tank in the front entrance way that is dirty at the bottom, we told the front desk about it and when I checked out I seen that the tank had been refilled and the bottom was still dirty. I would not ever stay at a Fairfield again in life. First bad experience with Marriott, and I stay at Marriott a lot!
