This property offers a prime, modern downtown location near the Convention Center and boasts high-quality accommodations and service, though the experience is heavily dependent on staff interactions and parking fees.
Service has gone to hell here. Used to be a very good hotel. Arrived early Saturday afternoon before my room was ready. No problem; figured I’d just valet the car and they could hold my bags at concierge. Nope; they said garage was full try again in a few hours. When I tried to check in at 7:30pm -even though I am HILTON GOLD AND STAYED 48 NIGHTS LAST YEAR- my virtual card still said ‘preparing room’. So I had to wait in line at the front desk where they proceeded to give me physical keys and offered two bottles of water for my troubles (which is standard for gold members anyway). Then an hour later I called to ask for late checkout. The front desk phone rang for 7 minutes 34 seconds before someone answered. Just very poor customer service all around.
In town for Volleyball tournament. Prime location to the Convention Center. Welcome upon arrival was professional and warm. Staff very professional in etiquette and appearance. Very modern decor was first impression throughout the hotel. Room was a twin queen with plenty of space. Very clean with updated fixtures as well as a very impressive bathroom. Cleanliness personified. And they promote their Hampton "plush" beds and rightly so. And last but not least the free breakfast was over the top. Not just a grab and go. Think of a breakfast favorite, they mosy likely provided it. And a dedicated spacial area to enjoy our breakfast made our morning wake ups wonderful. Very impressed with our weekend stay. ?
We stay here several times a year for competitive cheer at the convention center. Rooms are always clean, service is top notch, valet is convenient and reasonably priced compared to other parking options, and the breakfast is good. Clifford, one of the front desk personnel, is probably the nicest person in the hotel industry that we’ve ever met. Always positive, always a greeting, and just an overall great human being! Would not stay anywhere else downtown Columbus!
Spacious rooms, friendly check in staff. Valet parking bit comes at a price. Great location across from the convention center and near many local bars and restaurants.
I'm a Hilton honors member and I travel with Hilton all the time. This Hampton inn is beautiful. The staff is excellent. Meryem Is top notch and made my stay awesome because she has excellent customer service and I highly recommend staying at this hotel.
Very nice. Well kept. Clean. Everyone was friendly. Great location for our downtown needs. Nice breakfast. Hotel is across the street from the Arnold Statue and next door to the Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
Our stay was ALMOST perfect… Let’s start with the great: We showed up really early. My plan was to valet our car and go about our day/check in whenever the time came. The gentleman at valet was extremely friendly, as were the front desk folks. They checked us in very early which made our day so much simpler. Even accommodated a late checkout given our Diamond Status. Throughout the day, we loved every interaction with Clifford at the front desk. The hotel industry needs more passionate people like him that go out of their way to lift your spirits. Up bright and early for the Columbus Marathon, the breakfast folks had everything ready for a long line of hungry runners. Post-race, as expected, I walked into the lobby to Clifford ringing a congratulatory bell and exclaiming “congratulations! God love you!” For being a Hampton Inn, we were thoroughly impressed. It had an upscale feeling to it, and everything was clean to our liking. Now for the ugly part that made this stay imperfect… the lobby elevators give you access to the valet garage. I went down, saw a gentleman and asked if I could load our car (out of the pouring rain that I already endured for the race). He quickly grabbed my keys. The gentleman from yesterday was also walking through. I asked if I was allowed to drive my own vehicle out. He said that wasn’t a problem since I already checked out/had my keys. A few minutes later as we were driving up and out, another man threw his hands in the air yelling at us. I backed up, rolled down the passenger window and said “your colleague said that we could drive out.” He proceeded to aggressively inform me that he was a supervisor and that the conversation “DEFINITELY didn’t happen” and that we were being a liability. I calmly and respectfully said I was happy to get the gentleman (after it was inferred that I was a liar) to which he became more aggressive and said “let’s go.” At the top of the garage I pulled over and the gentleman from yesterday came around the corner as the other was running up the ramp. I said “can you please tell him that you told me I could drive my own vehicle out?” He immediately recapped our conversation. No apology from the aggressive supervisor. Just looked and told the other gentleman “don’t do that” and walked away. I told the gentleman again thanks for his service, and that we didn’t need treated that way for not doing anything that we knew was wrong. Again, aggressive supervisor peeks around the corner to intrude in our conversation, but no apology. Simply got in my vehicle and left at this point. I want to reinforce the friendly attendant truly made us feel valued when we arrived and when we interacted with him. The aggressive supervisor on the other hand, reinforced my frustration with blowing over $40 per night on parking. Also, I’ll add that the attendant that grabbed our keys handed them to me also didn’t say anything about them vs me pulling out of the garage. So until our interaction with the “supervisor” - we were under the full impression that we were good to go based on these other two interactions. Every single interaction with staff at this hotel was incredible. But this parking supervisor was simply hostile and made for a real treat in front of our six and three year olds.
Self Parking is not an option as valet at $42/ night is ridiculous. I utilized the park mobile app and paid a fraction of the cost. The rooms are small, but functional. Work out room was really nice though for that quick jog and blood flow!
The hotel itself is nice. The rooms are clean and the staff is helpful. There are plenty of wonderful options for dining in easy walking distance. The convention center is easily accessed from the hotel. However the street racing that goes on outside the hotel until 2am is loud and very disruptive to sleeping. I know this is not the hotel's fault that this happens but the local police are not doing anything to stop this. It is well documented in newspaper articles so there is awareness of it locally going back a year. The hotel should be doing more to advocate for their clients to ensure they are getting rest.
The staff was fantastic. Super close to the convention center and Arnold statue. Valet parking was easy. The room was a nice standard issue room. No in room microwave, which can be a bummer if you had plans to reheat your dinner leftovers for a snack. All in all, I would gladly stay there again.
