The Days Inn by Wyndham Columbus Airport receives mixed reviews, with concerns frequently citing disrepair, cleanliness issues, and a lack of amenities like breakfast. While some guests appreciate its location near the airport and value for money, significant problems with room conditions and overall maintenance are repeatedly highlighted. Recent reviews indicate a decline in property upkeep.
My friend and I stayed May 13-17. It was an awful experience to say the least. Upon arrival, there were 2 male staff at the front desk. The tall one with dark hair was had his air pods in and was talking negatively about current guests. After checking in, we arrive at the first room. And I am absolutely disgusted to say the least. I start to examine the beds to check for bed bugs or anything else underneath the sheets. I find what I can only describe is pubic hair or beard hair. The floors were sticky and covered in debris. I call down to the front desk and tell the tall dark haired staff what I found and his remark was “I believe it”. 3 rooms later, we arrive at room 180. At this point the tall dark haired staff does a “walk through” of the 4th room. I would say walk through very lightly. At this point he has both air pods in, moves 1 pillow and determines it’s clean. I also noticed that we were in a room with full size beds when I had booked queens. This staff member was argumentative about the beds being queens even though they were not. I have requested to talk to a manager at this point, the tall dark haired staff told me that there was no manager on call and no one to contact regarding a refund. With that being said, I did not hear or speak to a manager the entire stay even though I had requested to several times. Day 2-3 of our stay we return back to the room about 1am. I noticed that the bathroom floor is flooded with water. Anything on the floor was soaked. I call down to the front desk, the lady said that she would give us a new room. She stated that there was no maintenance in the building. This would’ve been the 5th move. I tell her it’s too late and I asked if we could move in the morning, she said yes. The next morning I walk down to the front desk to get a new keycard, there was a new lady at the front desk. She stated that maintenance had to check it out before moving. Which is fine because we didn’t want to move anyway. The maintenance comes and semi fixes the issue. We still notice a little bit of leakage but at this point we’re just over the stay. The state of every room was gross. The walls had stains, cracks, patching spots, beaten down or broken dresses, stained furniture, stained mattresses, worn down curtains that didn’t even close all the way, stained showers, and absolutely repulsive floors. This establishment needs a MAJOR upgrade with staff and state of the hotel. I woke up Saturday morning the being reimbursed for my stay. Today, I wake up to it being taken out again.
The bedsheets were dirty. The drain to the sink in the bathroom was not connected. Someone was smoking in the hallway. The people across the hall of me were loud as all get out. They were they would not stop slamming the doors at 3 o’clock in the morning. The hotel staff wasn’t really happy to be there. Someone was shaving their guys hair in the food area. When I went to go check out, the girl told me their system was down, but I asked her to call me and make sure that I was checked out once their system got back up never received a call. Etc When I told her that the reservation was under the rewards member name (my mother), she first said that I needed them there to check in as well. My name should be underneath her too. I have the email confirmation if you want it, and then kind of shroud wrote her eyes and asked for my ID and card.
I have never in my life been so disgusted and disappointed. I've had to stay at a truck driver motel room at a truck stop before. My 12 year old and I were in town for a concert. We always book on hotels.com. it was absolutely false advertisement. The place looks like it was furnished in the 60s. It was dirty. There were stains on the chairs and bed. The bathroom was disgusting. The cleanest spot was the floor. The elevator felt and sounded like it was going to break or fall. We got food delivered from from 'room service' and it was $52 for 12 wings. We ate our food in the truck. Then attempted to check out an hour later. The lady didn't know what she was doing. After calling a manager, she told me she couldn't even check me out. Mine you, I had a reservation for Friday and Saturday. They told me I had to contact hotels.com. They gave me a $50 credit after contacting them two days in a row. Told me it was up to the hotel if I get refunded even though I stayed an hour out of the whole weekend. It's literally a crack hotel. It's ran independently and not even a real Days Inn by Wyndham. The health department needs to go in there and shut them down. Hotels.com needs to ban them immediately from sliding them on their website. It's funny hotels.com had a review rating of 6.6 but google reviews has a 2.8. Unfortunately I didn't look at it until after the fact.
This place is a joke. They told us we could leave are vehicle in there parking lot instead of the airport because they have security and they would watch are vehicles with in 4 hour are car was stolen and the manger never called back or replied to the email my daughter sent them about the video surveillance. This place is a joke and everyone need to know. Not to get a room fr9m this place
We weren't sure what to expect when we pulled up to this hotel. The outside is very run down and in need of serious maintenance. The inside was much the same. The pool is beautiful and had so much potential but it was not open during our stay and was surrounded by dead and dying plants. The elevator was super sketch, jolting and hard stopping each time we used it. Our room was clean. The bed wasn't great but it worked for the night. The bathroom was clean but the tub/shower was in need of some cosmetic maintenance. There was no hot water from the sink. They advertise breakfast on their website but there is none and while there is a small coffee maker in the room, there is nowhere to plug it in so that it reaches an outlet unless you set it on the floor. We weren't doing that! All in all, it wasnt as terrible as other reviews had made it seem, but we most likely wouldn't stay there again.
This is a value hotel and was clean, comfortable and well represented for the price. The general manager Aurthur was extremely helpful and even weighed my bag to make sure I wasn't over at the airport. He explained everything in excellent detail. Definitely a great value and deserving of a five rating for the sheer value comfort price cleanliness.
Photos are highly edited, the front of the hotel does NOT look like what it shows online. The outside is super sketchy, outdated, and abandoned looking. The inside looks abandoned/deserted and creepy. It looks cool at first until you realize it’s not being taken care of properly or used to its most potential. This hotel has so much potential but needs lots of work and effort which nobody is seeming to make. Rooms: are dirty, dark and dingy, they each have a unique smell of must and God only knows what else. The fridges don’t work, half of the tvs don’t work, half of the lamps don’t work… lightbulbs are falling out of some, there was old food and crumbs on chairs, lots of dark hair on beds. We had stayed in three separate rooms and had a problem with one room where the tv was smashed and we were questioned like we were the ones who did it. They finally moved us and put us into a room with hair on the beds and no pillows, then gave us pillows with no cases and said they were out of pillow cases. Amenities: the pool is really cool but not taken care of. You can tell whoever owns this or runs this, barely does the bare minimum. The water was freezing and dirty and had a weird smell around it. There is NO breakfast like advertised. They offer absolutely nothing, not cereal, not even a crumb.
Don't judge a book by its cover. Room was clean and nice. The bed was soft and comfy. Cosmetic work on the shower and surrounding areas of the bathroom needed updated. Did see a dead roach on the table in the main room. Probably was a happening place back in the day. No breakfast. Plenty of vending machines for snacks.
Dingy, dark & smelly hallways. Filthy elevator,a disgusting ice machine not to mention a drug infested parking lot. Horrible condition throughout the exterior. Needs a total teardown& rebuild. A huge spider greeted me as I entered the room& inspected the bathroom. Shower worked good but the bathtub was sketchy so I had to keep my slides on. Bed was comfy but I was cut by the box springs super sharp corner. A hidden $300 deposit also greeted me to this dump!! Close this place before someone gets hurt, sick or robbed!! Terrible property, terrible service????????????
First impression, the outside looks horribly run down. Then I went inside and thought, this is pretty cool. Big open area with pool, and actual plane inside on display, trees, water fountains, pools. So I thought, maybe it's not as bad as it looked. I'm not too picky as all I needed was a bed for the night. The chair in the room was filthy and stained, the bed had a mix of very cheap, old pillows, the tub/shower was one of the worst hotel showers I've ever seen. Advertised free breakfast on their own website. NOPE. NOT ANYTHING. No cereal, bread, nothing. They have the big breakfast area, but I asked at the desk and they said no breakfast. I asked if they knew their website advertised free breakfast and she said yes. And the beautiful pool...CLOSED. I bet this place was really nice at one time, but it's not worth your money. Even if you're going for cheap. I'm surprised Day's Inn is willing to put their name on the front of this building.
