The Staybridge Suites Columbus-Dublin presents a mixed experience, with some guests praising its comfortable beds, included breakfast, and convenient location. However, numerous reviews highlight significant concerns about cleanliness, outdated facilities, and repeated maintenance issues, including mold, broken fixtures, and security concerns such as room entry.
Although I am giving them a great review, our first night here there was a stabbing on the floor below us. I had my 2 year old and 3 year old with me as well as my 7 year old niece. I was terrified. We didn’t leave because it seemed to be an isolated incident. I am disappointed because it says the pool is heated and it is far from heated. It wasn’t extremely cold but the pool room itself was very cold and the water was cold as well. Our room was clean, we had a 2 room suite. Everything was clean and no issues. I appreciate the pull out bed bedding set offered, most places don’t offer this in the room. Overall our stay was great. We stayed 3 nights.
The room was ok, but it could have been better. We had a 3 room suite, but it was a little small for my family. The breakfast was ok. There were no bowls for cereal, which was kinda disappointing.
When we first checked in, the room we were given on the 2nd floor smelled like rotting cabbage. I called down to the front desk and Jennifer kindly switched us, no questions asked. She was really accommodating. The next room my children and I got was 136 on the first floor and the door catches on the frame so when you first open it, you really have to push. When we first got there I worried the latch was on and that someone was in there. We went back to Jennifer and she very kindly joined us to enter and showed me it’s just the frame catching the door. The room had a lot of space for us, it was great. Nice and clean smelling. However, the room was so incredibly outdated. The vents were rusting and dirty. The bathroom shower curtain was ripped in two spots. Bathroom door wouldn’t close with ease. The beds were sitting on strange frames. almost like the wrong frames were put with the box spring and mattress. The pool heater was broken, the kids still attempted to swim but didn’t last long. The ladies washroom was out of order. The cutlery in the drawer of the kitchenette were rusted or dirty. I picked this brand of hotel due to the quality of the brand and space of room for my big group. But I have to say this is the second Staybridge Suite that has let us down. The Louisville location is just as bad. The customer service is wonderful however the updating of the rooms is really needed. You guys can do better. Thankfully I’m not choosing hotels based of furniture quality and newness of the rooms. If you’re going to charge high rates, the quality should be better. We do a lot of road trips and this would be a great place to stay if the doors were better. Check the videos and you will see
A few words to the management: What happened? This location was tremendous a few years ago. Since 2023, The two times I’ve stayed with have been horrific. Get back to basics to what originally made this location one of the best hotel locations around. Care for the rooms and people like you did prior to 2023.
Unfortunately my 2 night stay did not live up. I booked the largest suite available for my family of 6. The layout of the room was great- however the room was very dirty. One bathroom tub was covered in a previous customers hair. The other bathroom tub was unusable as it wouldn’t drain. The next morning I raised the problem at the desk and they said there was no maintenance or room cleaning on for the weekend so I would have to be moved. So we moved rooms which was very inconvenient and made us late for our day trip to the zoo. When we got to the new room one of the bathroom lights was burned out and there was zero light in the one bathroom. When I brought it to the attention at the desk someone said they would replace it when we were gone for the day. They never did. And when I brought it to the desks attention they said maintenance doesn’t have any of the bulbs in stock so there was nothing they could do. When I asked if they could just take the bulb from my old room she just said that couldn’t be done. So once again we were down a bathroom. At least the second room was cleaner. After complaining I was given a $50 refund by the manager. No apology and frankly $50 was not enough of a refund for paying for a room with 2 bathrooms- 1 which I couldn’t use a shower for. The staff seemed incompetent and not caring. The only time they addressed my situation is when I called them- they never followed up or followed through on helping me. I have to travel to Columbus area twice a month. I stayed at this hotel because I was a member and had my family with me this time. I will not be back not only because of my bad experience but because I have no faith that the staff and manager would be competent in the future.
TLDR: would NOT recommend. They did not have our room cleaned, couldn’t clean it, and had no other rooms to offer. We booked a 2 bedroom suite (had reservations) and arrived in town with our two young kids at 9:30. Got to the room at 9:45 thinking someone was inside of it because the lights and fans were all on with dirty towels on the floor, dirty dishes in the sink, trash on floor, and dirty/used beds. Called down to front desk and was put on hold for 15 min only to be offered a one room standard room for no discount and no apologies. Problem is that room was not actually available either because an engineer was working on it. Put on hold for another 15 min and I went downstairs finally. They had no rooms and no help to offer me. I had to rebook at the residence inn (which has been amazing already). Joy and Julie at the front desk were zero help nor were they friendly or apologetic. They acted like I was inconveniencing them. My young kids are now overly tired and have been sitting in a dirty room for 30 min and we are going to the Marriot. Never again.
This hotel was in a good location, plenty of parking, everyone was very nice. Cocktail hour with wine and beer and snacks and breakfast included in the morning. The room was clean, bed was comfortable, the pillows are even labeled firm and soft. My problem with the hotel has nothing to do with the people but with the arrangement of the room and a few glitches. If someone has to get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom the door between the room and the toilet tub area sticks and makes a tremendous amount of noise. The bathroom sink faucet would not turn off completely and drips. Bathroom needs more hooks or towel bars for your towels. Breakfast was good however the heated serving containers lids would not stay open so you needed two hands to get your food which meant you had to put your plate down on the counter.
Spring break with daughter. I'm so disappointed. These reviews are from hotel employees. 1- bedroom suite , the worst room ever. The bathroom shower has mold, mold mold, broken toilet seat, broken closet door, stinge smell in hallway, whoever maintained, pool put way too much chlorine, hadmy daughter and other kids coughing and not able to enjoy. No maintenance is available after certain times. Smoking area close to all entrance doors. Staff is nice but not helpful, Never will stay here again
Very disappointed. Apparently vehicles are broken into every few days here. There was no heads up, until it happened to us. I'm still in shock over the break in, otherwise I'd go into more details of the hotel itself. The other reviews go over everything this hotel is lacking in good detail. Lack of water pressure, sewage coming up the pipes randomly, filthy, etc. I typically look through reviews better, but being a staybridge I didn't.
DIRTY. BLACK MOLD. The physical location itself is good, but parking is difficult to access (narrow entrance). Service is 2 stars because the front desk is kind and helpful. However, the room service is awful, hence the 1 star for rooms. My original room wasn't prepared upon arrival (very late in the day, so plenty of time to clean)- the sheets hadn't been changed, bathroom was a mess. I told the front desk and they quickly gave me a different room. While the sheets in this one were fresh, the floor looked like it hadn't been vacuumed for weeks, mounted products weren't secured, and the shower, bathroom sink, and toilet looked like they hadn't been cleaned (hair and globs of products on surfaces). Maintenance has been slacking- hole in wall, bathroom door falling apart, water leak behind wall above shower head which has led to black mold to form, and mold beside the toilet.
