The SpringHill Suites Columbus OSU receives mixed reviews, with some guests praising its location, cleanliness, and helpful staff. However, recurring concerns include bed quality, cleanliness issues, inconsistent service, and issues with parking fees and room availability. Recent reviews highlight problems with bedbugs and a lack of responsiveness from hotel management.
The cleaning staff and service for breakfast doesn't know English very well, but the hotel is clean, and the people at the desk are very good at costumer service. So whatever you need. You can get. Whenever I go to Columbus to the Dr. Or OSU and have to stay, I stay with them. However I would like to see a better price especially for the patients at OSU.
This hotel was excellent. The staff (especially Matt) were so helpful with restaurant recommendations & other needs and inquiries. Breakfast was not good, but other a that I highly recommend it. Room was great, very clean and well stocked with everything we needed. Love the split bathroom, great idea for guests sharing a room. Will definitely stay here again on our next excursion to Columbus .
The beds are beyond needing to be replaced. We could feel the springs in the mattress. We were unable to get much sleep. Constantly waking up because we were uncomfortable. For thr amount of money I spent for the three days we stayed, I expected better beds. Its shameful that they charge what they do for 3rd rate mattresses. The only bright spot about our stay was the staff. Extremely helpful and courteous. The front desk told us the owners do not want to spend the money to upgrade even though they need it. I will not stay here again until they upgrade the beds. I also would not recommend anyone to spend their hard earned money here.
Strangely designed rooms, bathroom has a slide barn door separate from shower room. Random faux wall in middle of room with a broken chair and desk. Pair of fishnet stockings left in drawer, noisy air return in hallway you hear all night, train going through right next to hotel all night.
Location is really not ideal. Almost nowhere to go by foot - even for a few relatively close by restaurants you had to walk on sidewalks covered with snow. Room is OK, but I had crumbs on the desk when I arrived, and the TV started working by itself every evening around 6pm. Breakfast was so-so: coffee was bad, and there was only plastic plates and cutlery. The yogurt was nice. Oh, and the gym has no machine with weights, only treadmills and free weights, and no mattress, which is a bit lame.
Only gave four stars because I will be unable to enjoy the free breakfast in the morning, but as far as I can see from other photos the breakfast looks pretty good. Other than that I would give it five stars! Location is absolutely perfect. Minutes from OSU and pretty much walking distance to all the college shops and restaurants. Parking lot is free and plentiful!!! There is available parking right in front of entrance. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Rooms are clean, smoke and bug free! I took photos of some of the amenities inside the room they are updated and clean. Beds are, I would say medium firmness very comfy. Rooms have abundance of space. The value for the price is excellent. Definitely recommend. ??
Friendly staff, comfortable beds, nice rooms. No complaints from us. We've stayed here twice so far and are likely to again.
Spent 3 days at osu. Needed to rest while we wait on her mother's treatment. The air was on cold when we made it to the room. Spent the last 3 hours trying to get the heater to work. We crashed from being up so late and kept waking up to the sound of the heater. There must be a thermostat out because it was either blowing ice cold air or full blown heat. We cant rest at all. We went to go tell the front desk and the response was ok. We are too tired to be moving rooms at 1am. We are now checking out at 1am and going to sleep in the hospital lobby again instead. Don't waste your money here. The kicker is its winter time.
Decent Hotel, very friendly staff. My only disappointment was the $4.00 a day parking fee. I have never experienced this before at many other hotel chains for a hidden up charge. This will effect future visits.
I had stayed at this hotel a number of times in the past with pleasant experiences. I made a reservation last week. I called the day before to ask if I can put my employee's name on the room to check in. I was told that would be fine. When my empoyee went to check in on Sunday October 5th he was denied checking in. I spoke with Luke the onsite assistant manager. He said I need to be there to check in. I asked why this is occuring. I have stayed at many Marriott hotels and I am a lifetime Platinum member. I have never had this issue before. Luke told me he can only check in my employee if I filled out a pre authorized credit card form. I told Luke I am on my phone not near a computer. I asked him what would be a solution. Luke said he can docusign me the form to sign on my phone. I said ok. He docusigned me the form not filled out. I can't read it since I didn't have my reading glasses. This was an example of him being lazy and not customer focused. After being on the phone for a multiple minutes alternating between my employee and Luke, I decided to ask Luke if it would better better to cancel the 5 day reservation and look for another hotel. I wanted to hear his response. Luke told me "Our hotel is located next to The Ohio State University and we will have no problem renting the room to someone else." I told Luke I was going to call the Marriott 1 800 HQ number after his sparky response. Next I received an immediate email canceling my room reservation by Luke. I couldn't beleive it. I then proceeded to call 1 800 Marriott. They told me my reservation would be reinstated but I decided after Luke being so unprofessional and rude that I would spend my money at a Hilton hotel for the trip. I have seldom ever met somone so unprofessional and business ignorant as Luke. Stay away from this hotel!!!
