The Aloft Columbus Westerville receives mixed reviews, with some guests praising the friendly staff, cleanliness, and convenient location. However, recent reviews highlight significant issues with inconsistent service, particularly regarding night staff and management responsiveness, alongside concerns about room cleanliness and maintenance. The hotel seems to be struggling with staffing levels and addressing guest concerns promptly.
Rooms are very cute,I was informed that management was not there at 12 Pm on a Monday as well as I called Tuesday and the front desk associate”Jenna” “stated” management is not out of town) why would Jenna who claimed to be the front desk supervisor say that that. I’ve stayed here in the past and my problems have always been taken care of it… Management in the last 5-6 month Is completely terrible. I will be going to another chain, when I asked to speaks to Elizabeth or to give my number to Elizabeth since she is the one who helped me before.. The young lady denied knowing this staff memberand then said yes it’s very sad I hate that she is gone is caused many issues… I looked at my finance in disbelief.. I will be calling Robert Ryan myself because that young lady was so sweet the light of the hotel and to have someone speak of her negativity like that is is inexcusable.
Gorgeous Hotel!! Wonderful experience!! The Front Desk Staff was very friendly and Management was very helpful and professional! I look forward to returning soon!!
I was a little worried when I was looking at reviews before booking. But I found pretty much all of the negative reviews to be false. At least for us. The front desk staff was amazing our whole visit. Everytime we walked in the door, We were greeted. Even housekeeping was amazing. Our towels got switched out daily. Room was clean. There was a little wear on the walls and such but to be expected with an 8 year old hotel. Cant comment on the breakfast or bar as we didnt use those amenities. Felt safe. The area was nice. Security circled the parking lot all night. Stopped to check the inside occasionally. Overall an amazing stay.
The night shift receptionist’s attitude felt more like that of a detention center than a hotel. To the point that I asked her if she was angry. I don’t know—everything else was perfect, except that she acted as if she owned the place and treated us in a very cold and harsh manner. I feel disappointed.
Extremely Disappointing Stay We arrived late due to a flight delay and checked into our room around 12:45 AM. As always, we inspected the room before unpacking and immediately noticed human hair on the shower walls and tiles—clearly unsanitary. We returned to the front desk to report the issue to the night auditor, who was courteous and tried to help by assigning us a new room. Unfortunately, it took about 25 minutes for her to figure out how to change our room. When we got to the new room, the key card didn’t work. She ran back to get another one, but that also failed. After another 15 minutes, we were finally placed in a room on the first floor. The night auditor was kind and even brought us an extra blanket when she noticed how cold the room was. Despite her efforts, the second room was no better. The carpet was coming up, the bathroom sliding door was off its track and wouldn’t close, the nightstands were warped from water damage, the shower grout was moldy. Overall, the room felt unhygienic. The AC/heater unit was so loud we barely got three hours of sleep. The next morning, we spoke with the morning auditor to request a refund. She was dismissive and said she couldn’t issue one. When we asked for the manager’s contact information, she refused, citing privacy concerns. She offered to move us to yet another room, but we had already changed rooms twice and declined. She told us we’d need to open a case with Marriott Bonvoy. We checked out and contacted Marriott Bonvoy the following day. They refunded three nights but still charged us for the first night, which we feel is unacceptable given the circumstances. We were respectful throughout the ordeal, but the experience was frustrating and exhausting. Writing this review so others are aware of what we went through.
Was in town for a family emergency and needed a room for a few nights. I always stay at Marriott brands when possible and have recommend aloft in Westerville as a great option in the past to friends, colleagues and family when in the area. I arrived late and exhausted when I checked in with the woman at the front counter, so her lack of customer service was noted but not as much of a concern as getting to a clean quiet room to be able to rest. She gave me a room on the 1st floor which I had never stayed in a 1st floor room, so I was confused as where to go (she did not offer to help or give directions). After locating my room I was instantly met with the strong smell of wet dog (ahh they offer pet stays here I remembered- and ugh! this is not what I was expecting). I brought my luggage in the room and told myself I would talk to the hotel in the morning (it was after midnight at this point). The walls had random smudges and smears, the toilet paper roll holder was broken and positioned up to keep the toilet paper from falling off and there was hairs on the bathroom floor that were not mine. Again I just needed to sleep. As I lay down on the bed I noticed ants crawling under the table by the window and TV. I tossed and turned trying to sleep and woke up to a huge spider crawling across my blanket while I was laying in there - I shot up out of bed, took a video to show the hotel and decided this was too much- I'm not comfortable enough to even sleep- I need to check out. When I went to the front desk to check out and discuss the room, my experience, and the video I took of the spider crawling on the bed, I was not met with empathy or an offer to refund my stay or to not charge for the 2nd day (as I had booked with points) no apology just handed me a print out and went back to talking among themselves
First thing when you walk in the room is being hit with a warm, moist, humid, kind of musty smell. Like the room sat stagnant for a while. Not desirable at all, but you do get used to it shortly. Climate control does appear to be working so I turned on the fan with AC to try to get the humidity down. Room does appear to be clean. No issues noted with the bed or bathroom. Bed was clean and comfy, a king size bed, multiple pillows offered. Shower had good pressure, good hot water, and liquid soap dispenser over a bar which is preferable. Windows have roll down covers which mostly blocked the light from outside except where they’re blocked by the climate control system, letting light in. This can be prevented by stuffing pillows in the space. Door has a dead bolt and stop paired for security. It looks like a peep hole cover was once installed but has since fallen off. Stuffing a was of paper tissue in there solves this dilemma. Other than that the room has a TV, a small safe, a small fridge, two desks, and a hair dryer.
The decor reminds me of IKEA, which isn't necessarily bad. The colors are very bold, primary colors, so not relaxing at all. Lobby, halls and room were very clean, bed was comfy, shower is big with great water pressure. Breakfast items you can order and purchase are expensive! However, if you purchase items out of the "market fridge" it's much less expensive. They are pet friendly, however none of the pet stations had waste bags over 2 days. I always carry my own, but if you're going to advertise pet friendly and have the stations, stock the waste bags
I had an absolutely amazing stay! The check-in process was a breeze, making me feel welcomed right away. The staff went above and beyond with their friendliness, making me feel like a VIP. My room was spotless and just what I was dreaming of. The location couldn't be more perfect—everything was within reach! I felt completely safe exploring the area. And let me tell you, the bar inside was simply fantastic, offering an incredible atmosphere!
Location was great for what I needed. Staff was great. Room was clean. Shower toilet sink was clean. The bed and pillow were not bad. However, the room that I had 433 had two windows. One of the widows was ceiling to floor. You could not fully close the blind. It only closed to the desk that is in front of it. So under the desk anybody could see into the entire room. It was a good 3 foot high exposure. I could see people going through Fizolis drive through while laying in the bad. Which was about 150 yards a way from the building. I was too tired to changes rooms. That would be my only complaint. I did find it a bit weird. I wish that I had thought about taking a picture. If my wife were with me we definitely would have gotten another room.
