The Blackwell Inn and Pfahl Conference Center receives generally positive reviews, highlighted by its convenient location near Ohio Stadium and comfortable accommodations. However, guests have raised concerns about parking costs, inconsistent service, and issues with billing and communication. Recent reviews indicate a preference for the hotel’s bed comfort and friendly staff, but also mention problems with room drainage and responsiveness from hotel staff.
Very clean, conveniently located, and the in room coffee is Keurig K-cup style. That's all I need! I have stayed at this hotel several times as they offer discounted rates for families of The James patients (if you ask). In-room televisions are large updated flat screens. Beds are extremely comfortable. Valet parking is around $35 per night...But that is comparable to overnight charges at the nearby parking garage and worth the convenience. The only thing I would improve upon is the showers. The water pressure is good, but a walk in type would allow more space and appear more modern. Overall a great hotel!! Book it!!!
DO NOT use the valet. One of their employees literally peeled out in a customer's Alfa Romero. Hotel was very nice and close to location for concert. Rooms have zero sound deadening. Could hear people in the halls conversation without trying
Location was perfect, went to a concert at the Schottenstein Center. Hotel itself was not very impressive. Small lobby, front desk clerk that was not very helpful at all, restaurant doesn't have dinner, lounge closes early. The towels were just ok but I did like the black makeup towel. Beds were ok.
We had a very nice stay. The rooms were very nice and clean. Plenty of space. The staff was so nice and answered all our questions with a smile. We definitely would stay here again when we’re in town.
I stayed at the Blackwell Inn during the level 3 snow emergency that we had in Columbus after my shift at OSU. They provided medical center staff with an emergency rate that also included valet. It was such a welcome gesture after being out in the snow. The staff were really kind and everything about the hotel was really nice; the rooms, the lobby, everything. I had a nice view of the stadium from my room. They offer room service and everything you would need. I would definitely return.
Awesome hotel right next to the stadium. If you are going to any school events, there is not a better hotel. As staff is exceptionally friendly and the beds could be some of the most comfortable hotel beds I have ever slept.
This hotel and its staff are beyond excellent the five star rating does not provide enough representation. The attention to detail they provide in our stay to celebrate a previous wedding we held here was amazing. Our night was perfect, the hotel room was just as we remembered it, and the small extra details the staff provided for us were thoughtful and so kind. We love the Blackwell and would suggest them to anyone coming to stay for an OSU game, a wedding, or just want an executive level hotel stay.
Location was right on campus. Perfect location close to Ohio Stadium. Easy walking access. Rooms were spacious and clean. Parking was disappointing as you either had to pay $35 valet (included in/out privileges) or park in campus parking deck next door and pay every time you exited garage. Hotel staff was pleasant and friendly. Overall hotel was clean. Would definitely stay again.
Riley at the Front Desk was fantastic! He was professional, helpful, and friendly. He was one of the few front desk agents I have encountered in a while that bothered to tell us about the area using and providing a map, explained the hotel setup and told us about shops and restaurants in the area. Super helpful! Thank you!!!! Our conference suite was an excellent, spacious room. We loved it. Housekeeping was great as well. One thing to note: the sink was slow to drain and needs attention and the stopper that switches the tub to a shower was stuck and difficult to lift up. Also needs attention. The hotel location was phenomenal and it was so easy to walk around the campus and to shops and restaurants.
Wow!!! What a great hotel experience! It felt luxurious for a very good price, check-in was incredibly easy, it's central on campus and you can walk everywhere, and parking (which is normally such a hassle) was good. We stayed here to go to a concert at the Schottenstein Center and it was such a quick, easy, safe walk back to the hotel. The staff were very helpful on multiple occasions, the rooms were clean and decorated nicely, and there's a little Ohio State store inside. Would stay again!!!
