The Hilton Garden Inn Columbus-University Area receives generally positive feedback, primarily driven by its convenient location and friendly staff. However, concerns regarding cleanliness, facilities maintenance, and staff behavior are evident in recent reviews. Despite the staff's efforts, some guests experienced issues with room conditions, pool temperature, and overall value.

My husband and I are staying here for Valentine’s Day weekend and it has been a wonderful choice. The service is great, the beds are comfortable, they actually give you nice big towels for the bathroom and the body wash, shampoo and conditioner they provide are in big bottles and smell amazing and are sulfate free, I loved that. The pool was also very clean.

Last minute booked here as there was an issue with another hotel. The staff is top notch here. From check-in, the evening front desk person was managing all parts of the lobby and bar with a friendly & helpful attitude. Breakfast can cost extra, but the food was good & again, the service was great. Room was nice & comfortable. While the USB by the bed did not work, there were multiple other power options (including the alarm clock) to charge devices

I was racially mistreated when I went there after driving 7hours ….The male receptionist who was on duty on 12/23/2025 @12:30am.. I pray someone messes you up done day soon. The hotel staff are racisy including the female security who said it’s okay for the man to talk me in that manner. Thank God I recorded him! So he can’t lie! The security came and I explained that he called me a Fraud just because my boyfriend card declined! (Mind you my boyfriend is in the icu at the hospital so he made reservations before I got to Columbus, I explained this to the receptionist n the security then the security said because the guy doesn’t like me then I must leave the hotel…. I pray to God that you feel millions of the pains I feel this night , Fairfield treated me well and nice, they listen to me and took time to help me!

The room was clean (except for the rust stains on the showerhead), but there were a bunch (5+) of unattended 8-10 year old girls running up and down the halls and being obnoxiously loud, and riding up and down the elevator from the 2nd to 3rd floor until after 10 PM, UNATTENDED. The one elevator floor was also soaked -- I can only assume it was kids using the pool and not drying off before riding the elevators. But that presents a slip and fall danger. There is no sound deadening between the hallway and rooms at all, so you hear the overly heavily room doors slam shut and people talking in the hallway 24 hours a day. Add to that the herd of girls running rampant, and you get the picture. Also, the internet... Why would you have a Wi-Fi network named "Hilton Hotel" that customers cannot log into, and then find out that the REAL guest network was IHG-something? There was one very nice woman at the front desk, but they needed more desk staff. I went to ask about the Wi-Fi, and she was five guests deep. I asked a guy who was cleaning, and he kindly straightened me out on the Wi-Fi. Thank you Sir! While there were firm and soft pillows, labeled as such, the bed was way too firm. The breakfast was mediocre at best. It appeared that the eggs and stuff were shipped in frozen and just thawed / heated. And people left their trash on the table, and none of the staff were making sure the trash cans were not overflowing in the breakfast area? Overall a mediocre experience at best. If I return to the area, I'll try the plethora of other hotels within a stone's throw from this place before I'd stay here again.

This Hilton was in a great location and rooms are spacious and clean. We had a few small issues, missing light bulb, etc The staff was great. Welcoming and extra helpful. We enjoyed our quick stay.

The hotel is in a good location and has relatively clean, comfortable rooms. However, both the morning and night staff here was incredibly rude and hostile. Dawn at the front desk yelled at my parents for accidentally calling the front desk a couple of times. Our room phone was broken... For that reason alone, I wouldn't return.

Me and my wife were here for 4 days for work in town. Quick easy check in. Clean room. We never got a chance to try the breakfast but as we were walking out to work it looked good. The little interaction we had with the staff was great. If we had to come back up here for work, we would definitely stay here again.

My wife and I stayed here from March 1st to the 2nd while we were in town. It’s in a nice area and the lobby was clean, but once we got to our room(room 520), we noticed a brownish splatter all over the wall behind the TV(kind of looked like blood? I added pictures below). We were getting ready to go out and got some ice from the 5th floor ice machine for some beverages, only to find some sort of brown chunks in our drinks. After dumping them to make more, we realized that these chunks were coming out of the ice machine with the ice(maybe mold or rust? I included a picture). On our way out for the evening, I politely asked the staff about the splatter on the wall and the chunks of whatever were coming out of the ice machine. I was politely told to use a different floor’s ice machine and that they had no other rooms available. We were out for the rest of the evening, but when we returned 6 hours later, the splatter on the wall was still there as no one attempted to clean it. For a standard room that cost $625 for one night($200 in fees past the price originally listed even when booking directly with the hotel), my wife and I were disappointed it wasn’t even clean.

Wouldn’t rate this place as kid friendly. Desk manager has a problem with kids sitting in the public dining space next to the bar. She states this IS all the bar seating however, she’s wrong. It’s clearly advertised as a bar and grille with dedicated bar stools the rest is low top tables. Marketing yourself as bar and grille with NO signage stating “under age persons may not sit here” means I’m free to have a drink at the bar while my child can sit at a regular table and eat some chicken tenders. By the desk agents logic anywhere that has a bar now cannot seat children. So, restaurants like Applebees and Longhorn cannot accommodate kids with regular seating. I tried respectfully to point out the difference between regular seating and BAR top seating for kids but she remains committed to ignorance. Furthermore, the maximum occupancy for this bar area is set at 100+ and if you’ve been inside you know it cannot accommodate half that so it’s actually zoned for the ENTIRE downstairs lobby :-) that ALL is the bar and grille area, you can also be on the other side of the lobby not even next to the bar and order drinks / have drinks brought to you by this zoning. By her logic it would also be illegal to have drinks brought to your room with kids present. See how she’s wrong? Law is fun. All seating EXCEPT the actual bar stools is suitable LEGALLY for kids. No parent is going to seat their kids across the lobby so it sounds like she either doesn’t support legal kid friendly areas or she doesn’t want bar customers at all. If management doesn’t know the correct seating policy, I have no confidence in this hotel to maintain any other category of importance. Rooms are outdated, dirty, visibly missed areas for vacuuming, most outlets were dead and sink clogged. Gym had weights and one treadmill the peloton and other machines are broken or simply not cared to be plugged in. People review this place well for the service and staff below management which also get treated poorly, not anything else.
