Property Overview

Why we like it

  • The building has a rich history dating back to the beginning of the 20th century
  • A great indoor pool and hot tub is popular with kids and grown-ups alike
  • You don’t have to go out for breakfast and dinner, the on-site Bistro serves both
  • Despite the Courtyard name, this hotel is more of a cozy boutique than a corporate behemoth
  • Rooms are carefully maintained, and the property has saved all sorts of historical bits to commemorate its lengthy past

What do you need to know

  • Valet parking is required, no self-parking is available on site
  • You’ll find Starbucks at the Bistro in the morning, cocktails in the evening
  • Sundries are available in the lobby 24/7, in case you get peckish
  • There’s a little outdoor lounge area off the pool that is a great place for sunning in the afternoon
  • The fitness center is well-stocked with cardio and weight equipment

The Courtyard Columbus Downtown receives mixed reviews, with some guests praising the friendly staff, convenient location near the convention center and Nationwide Arena, and helpful amenities. However, recurring concerns include cleanliness issues, unpleasant room odors (particularly cigarette smoke), and problematic hallway environments with noise and unpleasant smells, as well as issues with parking and room conditions.

We stayed this weekend while we went to cosi. We had a great time my only complaint was the room was set a little warmer but we just had a temp increase from a very cold few weeks so that could be why. The pool was okay good temp. Although the rusty old chair lift made me a little nervous for the kids to be around. The towels in the pool are very small so maybe bring ones from the room. Tyrone down at the bar was fantastic! He talked with us about places around town that we should check out. We loved the hospitality. We would definitely stay again.

Very convenient stay , valet was 40 a day but I couldn’t request my car out for some reason it said it was drove out. The employees are a pleasure. The hotel does smell like cigarettes and it’s very dim in the rooms. Affordable though. Nationwide arena about 5 mins walk . Got my car from valet basically parked in the street

Stayed here for a couple nights to attend an event at Nationwide Arena. The walk to the venue was quick and easy, and the is located by a lot of bars and taverns. The staff was super friendly, and the housekeeper even noticed that I used both comforters on a single bed (I'm a cold sleeper) and made up the one bed with both sets of comforters when they tidied up while I was away during the day. They also put my blanket from home on the very top, and that attention to detail made my night when I got back from my event.

The hotel was at a good location, the staff allowed us to check in early and provided us with a welcome gift. The room was clean and ready at comfortable temperature. The fitness is great, the pool was ok. Not super clean, but given the tub was out, I give them credit for keeping the pool water at nice warm temperature. The breakfast area is nice, but impossible to sit there cause they keep their front door open all day and night (-7F outside makes its way into all hallways including the breakfast area). Next time I would ask to have a window away from the bus station, cause their constant air braking makes it impossible to sleep through the night. Too bad, the beds are comfortable.

we travelled from canada and the staff made us feel so welcomed and like it was our home away from home. we had zero issues and everything was clean and absolutely lovely. i truly cannot say enough good things about the staff, so sweet, friendly and helpful and kept wishing us a happy anniversary which i appreciate that they remembered. the amenities are great, in walking distance of lots of things and only short drives to many other things. you feel safe and taken care of. very highly recommend ??

After an unfortunate mishap with my furnace I had to spend 2 nights there. The entire service was mediocre at best. The night front desk personnel said you could only swipe your card to pay for anything, no tapp to pay or a slot for the chip. And they don't take cash. Finally had to manually put in the numbers. After over 45 minutes waiting to checkout, I had to leave for my job and just left the card in the room. When I got my receipt, I saw that the kept the deposit and said someone was smoking in the room.. Rest assured that was false. When I called to question it, the front desk said there were pictures and gave me an email address to a supervisor that was non-existent. So basically I wouldn't even carry any tobacco products inside at all or they'll find a reason to keep your deposit.

I stayed here with my friends for galaxy con 2025. They were amazing! The guy who checked us in was such a sweetheart, and they were absolutely lovely when it came to helping us get our bags to the room(and we had a ton). They helped us find good places to eat and were super helpful when we asked for extra makeup wipes. They held our bags after we had checked out so we would be able to go to con without having to get a locker. When we went to the pool area there was a nice man on duty who operated the hot tub for us even though he was off duty. The people here are amazing, the location is great, the place is spotless, in a great location for restaurants and experiences. Will definitely be staying here each time we go to the greater Columbus convention center!

Pleasant staff and easy check-in. My room was ok, but after waking up with a backpain at 2am I had to sleep on the floor the first night. I was switched to a new room the following night, and all was well. As I spend 150 nights per year in hotels I always review on Google and hotels.com where I book. I requested a refund for the 1st night, but was offered 1000 bonvoy points ($8.00), which is not acceptable! 2nd room (533) is ok, but has torn curtains. It is a 2-3 star hotel, but the staff is great.

Employees were very nice and helpful. Was not impressed with the room. They had to switch our room due to it not being the original room that was booked. The couch had a pretty good size tear in it (forgot to picture the tear). When you pull the couch bed out there is no room to walk around the bed or even through the room. It looked like sprayed coke or something on the wall and fire alarm. Drop off/pick up parking has hardly any space. No free breakfast. Coffee was not the best and condiments for coffee not stocked well. Carpet was lifting and we tripped a few times walking the halls. The pool/hot tub was very nice and indoors. Parking is ridiculous and VIP/Concierge parking is $35 a day.

Good clean room, interesting raised (2 steps) platform with rails, on the side of the room with the desk, the desk included a roll out table that was useful. No decaf tea or coffee. We weren't crazy about having to use valet parking but it di work well, though the cost of the parking essentially added to the room rate. Nice location downtown, close to the convention center.
